Group courses & workshops

Courses and workshops

Eight group courses drawn from twenty-five years of teaching — from a first introduction to the Alexander Technique through to voice, public speaking, meditation and deep relaxation. Small groups, taught in person by Nick Chapman.

Courses run through the year in Highgate, Surrey and the City. Dates depend on numbers — get in touch and Nick will tell you what is coming up.

What is on offer

Eight courses

Each runs as a small group. Several began as requests from clients who wanted to go further than their weekly lesson — most people arrive knowing nothing about the subject, which is the point.

One Half day · Beginners

Introduction to the Alexander Technique

The starting point. A practical half-day introduction to how you sit, stand and move — and to the habits doing the damage. You leave with the two or three ideas that make the biggest difference, and a clear sense of whether one-to-one lessons are for you.

Two Half day · Mindfulness of Breathing

The Only Meditation You Will Ever Need

One practice, taught properly, is worth more than a dozen half-learned ones. This workshop teaches Mindfulness of Breathing from the ground up — how to sit, what to do with a wandering mind, and how to keep going once the novelty wears off.

Vocal Warm-Up

For anyone whose living depends on their voice — teachers, actors, lawyers, presenters. A warm-up you can actually do in ten minutes before you speak, built on the breathing and neck freedom that make a voice carry without strain.

Public Speaking Workshop

Most nervous speakers are fighting their own body before they say a word. This workshop deals with the physical side of stage fright first, then the craft: how to hold a room, use a pause, and stop being boring.

Five Two hours · All welcome

Complete Yoga Nidra

A guided deep relaxation done lying down, needing no flexibility and no previous experience. Nick came to it through yoga and kept it because of what it does: it clears weeks of accumulated tension in a single session.

Six Half day · All welcome

Complete Relaxation

A longer workshop for people who have forgotten how to stop. Semi-supine work, breathing, and Yoga Nidra combined into a practice you can take home and use on the days that need it most.

Seven Multi-day · Actors & students

Acting and the Alexander Technique

The Technique has been taught in drama schools for a century, for good reason: it removes the tension that flattens a performance. Suitable for working actors and for those preparing drama school auditions.

Eight One day · Recovery

Complete Rejuvenation for Tired Bodies

For bodies worn down by desk work, caring, long hours or simply years. A slower day built around restoring length, ease of breathing and the ability to rest properly — less a class than a reset.
