Are We Really Experiencing a Posture Pandemic?

An article over the weekend stated that working from home had created a ‘Posture Pandemic’ and as an Alexander Practitioner, I can believe it. We are what we do. And that means if you are someone who works on a computer all day sitting at home you are way too sedentary. The sad thing is you may even be someone who exercises and that may not be enough to combat the problems caused by sitting.

Postural Health-Posture Pandemic

When you analyse movement properly it’s really difficult to reach the parts you don’t realise you aren’t reaching. This is the heart of the posture pandemic. In my work I have noticed this for many years. It has been necessary to develop specific ways to target muscle that has atrophied. Silly articles they write. Sitting is the new smoking they said. Let me assure you nothing damages you as much as smoking. Not even sugar! Still, it drives home a valid point. We must take our postural health much more seriously. Why don’t we? Because it seems like a bit of a bore and we have no idea what to do about it. There is a damascus moment when we realise we actually don’t know how to be. How to sit. How to use our very own musculo-skeletal system.

Alexander Technique Made Easy

I created Alexander Technique Made Easy. A YouTube channel that helps you begin to see the value in postural health. Seriously investing in your postural health will benefit you tremendously. People walk around in agony and have terrible symptoms like headaches and back pain. Even pins and needles in their arms. It doesn’t have to be like this. Working with an experienced Alexander Technique teacher will guarantee your postural pandemic will be over. You can change your postural health. It just takes knowing how.

Even better, just give me a call or request a 10-minute zoom call. Tell me your problems and I will build a special programme to solve them. It’s really worth it!
